“The Best Gourd — the Gourd Culture Tour along the Silk Road” Entering Maldives
2018年9月23日，“最葫芦·葫芦文化丝路行”再一次走出国门，来到享誉世界的旅游胜地马尔代夫，向马尔代夫友人讲述来自中国的葫芦故事。
On September 23, 2018, once again “The Best Gourd — Gourd Culture Tour along the Silk Road” went abroad and this time, to Maldives, a renowned tourist resort, to tell the Chinese stories about gourd to the friends of Maldives.
葫芦在中国传统文化中被赋予了平安吉祥、美好和谐的寓意，成为重要的吉祥图腾，在世界其他国家和地区，葫芦也备受青睐，同样有着广泛的文化传承。本次“最葫芦”通过写意葫芦画展这一平台走进马尔代夫，宣传介绍了由扈鲁担纲、中华书局出版发行的《葫芦文化丛书》，向马尔代夫当地民众传播葫芦文化，传递中国声音。
In traditional Chinese culture, a gourd is regarded as a major auspicious totem, an embodiment of peace, beauty and harmony. Likewise, in some other countries and regions, gourd is widely accepted as a means of cultural inheritance. The Tour in Maldives featured freehand gourd paintings exhibition, aiming to promote The Gourd Culture Series (edited by the chief editor Hu Lu and published by Zhonghua Book Company), thus giving chances to the local people to fully enjoy Chinese gourd culture.
本次活动共展出了扈鲁、问墨近年来的精品力作三十幅，画作在构图上大胆新奇、不拘一格，在笔墨上凝练朴拙、丰润秀美，在气势上壮观恢弘、深厚雄浑，充分展示了写意葫芦画固有的民族特色和中国气派。期间还展示了近年来出版的《葫芦画社报》，介绍了葫芦画社的建设发展情况和扈鲁、问墨在葫芦文化研究创作方面所取得的成就，这一切都充分体现了他们高雅的文化品位和卓然的人文情怀。
Thirty recent representative paintings by the couple Hu Lu and Wen Mo were on display. In terms of composition, the paintings are bold, novel and free-styled; and in terms of the use of brush and ink, the paintings are compact, earthen, plump and graceful, demonstrating a majestic and vigorous air. All the paintings fully represent the Chinese style and spirit embodied in these freehand gourd paintings. Also displayed are recently-published Gourd Painting Studio Papers, introducing the development of Gourd Painting Studio and the achievements made by Hu Lu and Wen Mo in the study and painting of gourd culture. The development and achievements are a display of the artists’ elegant cultural tastes and profound humanity.
本次活动重点推介了扈鲁先生领衔出版的《葫芦文化丛书》，介绍了丛书的编纂发行情况和丛书部分内容，葫芦在中华文明传承过程中的物质形态应用及演变，中华民族传统文化赋予葫芦的文化属性以及民间流传的葫芦神话传说等。现场观众纷纷表示，渊博深厚的中国葫芦文化令人叹为观止，自己深深地为中国传统文化的魅力所吸引，被华夏民族的勤劳智慧所折服。观众们对《葫芦文化丛书》更是产生了浓厚的兴趣，对扈鲁不仅具有高超的绘画艺术水平，且在文化研究方面具有高超造诣而深感钦佩，并且希望能把丛书翻译成英文在世界范围内传播、共享，让更多的人了解并热爱中国的葫芦文化。
The Tour focused principally on the promotion of The Gourd Culture Series compiled by Hu Lu, and the major activities include the introduction to the compilation, publication and parts of the Series, the description of the physical shapes and evolvement of gourds, the explanation of gourd’s cultural identity endowed by traditional Chinese culture, and the narration of myths and legends about gourds. The amazing Chinese gourd culture appealed to the audience who were deeply convinced of the diligence and wisdom of Chinese people. The audience took great interest in The Gourd Culture Series, greatly admiring Hu Lu’s skills in painting art and achievements in related studies. They hope that there will be English versions of this series so as to make Chinese gourd culture known and loved by more people throughout the world.
马尔代夫共和国位于南亚，是印度洋上的一个国家，是“一带一路”南亚八国之一。马尔代夫与中国经济文化往来源远流长，中国史称马尔代夫为“溜山国”或“溜洋国”。早在明朝年间，郑和就率领商船队两度到马。马尔代夫国家博物馆陈列着当地出土的中国瓷器，就是中马友好往来悠久历史的见证。近年来，在“一带一路”倡议的推动下，马尔代夫在经济与文化方面与中国的交流合作越来越深入。如今，在习近平总书记提出“一带一路”倡议五周年之际，“最葫芦·葫芦文化丝路行”走进马尔代夫，正是以实际行动响应倡议、深入践行21世纪海上丝路精神的有力举措，对于进一步推动中马两国文化交流，增进两国人民友谊具有重要意义。
The Republic of Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean and is one of the eight countries along the Belt and Road in South Asia. Historically, Maldives was called “Liushan” or “Liuyang” by the Chinese, and there has been a long tradition for the two countries to conduct economic and cultural exchanges. During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the merchant fleet led by the great navigator Zheng He visited Maldives twice. The Chinese porcelain unearthed locally is on display at the Maldives National Museum, which witnesses the long history of the friendly interaction between the two countries. With the Belt and Road Initiative playing its role, Maldives is expanding economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation with China. Right at the fifth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, the Tour came to Maldives. This is a response to the Initiative and a practice of the Silk Road spirit. The Tour is of great significance for further advancing the cultural exchanges and friendship between the two countries.
为期八天的葫芦文化展览，在当地组织和民众的大力支持下，取得圆满成功，在马尔代夫引起了强烈反响。“最葫芦·葫芦文化丝路行”在结束马尔代夫展演后，从这里走向欧亚，走进白俄罗斯。
With the strong support from local organizations and local people, the eight-day gourd culture exhibition arouses strong reactions in Maldives. Then, “the Best Gourd — Gourd Culture Tour along the Silk Road” will continue its journey to the Republic of Belarus.
